Step 1 - Click 'Buy Now'.
Once you've chosen your email address and password, and SudokuXP has checked that they're available, you'll see this screen. Clicking 'Buy Now' will take you into PayPal's payment system. From here on, your transaction will be with PayPal's secure server, not SudokuXP. Your card details are transferred only to PayPal, never to SudokuXP. The amount you'll pay will be shown in your local currency (e.g. US dollars) before you decide whether to go ahead with the transaction, and you won't be committed to making the payment until you click 'Pay' in step 3 below. Step 2 - The first PayPal screen.
Next, you'll see this screen from PayPal. You can start typing your credit/debit card details in straight away, like any normal online shopping transaction. You don't need to log in to PayPal or become a PayPal member to do this. PayPal doesn't add any extra charge for processing your card - you only pay what you see on screen. (Note that if a PayPal member has used your computer to make transactions or log into their account, you may see a different screen. Click here to view/hide it.) Type your card details, address etc into this screen, as you would for any online shopping transaction. (If you are a PayPal member and would like to pay from your PayPal account, log in via the box on the right of the screen). ![]() This is the bottom of the PayPal card details screen. When you've finished entering your information, click 'Continue Checkout'.

Once your card has been authorised, PayPal shows you this screen. If your
currency is not UK pounds, your payment amount will be shown in your local
currency (e.g. US dollars).
If you are a European Union resident, PayPal will add 17.5% VAT (sales tax) to
the basic £3 cost (as in the UK example above). This is required by EU law.
You'll receive a VAT invoice by email showing the amount of VAT charged.
If you want to go ahead with your purchase, click 'Pay'.
Step 4 - return to SudokXP. ![]()
Next you'll see PayPal's confirmation screen, where it will try hard to persuade
you to open a PayPal account. However if you want to go back to SudokuXP and
start solving puzzles, click on 'Return to Merchant' instead (we've ringed it in
red, as it's not very prominent compared to PayPal's sales pitch!).
It's a good idea to go back to SudokuXP at this stage, as it will confirm that
we've received your payment confirmation from PayPal, and log you straight into
the system. However if you do want to join PayPal, or do something else, that's
OK - when you're ready, go to
www.sudoku.paulspages.co.uk and log in using the email address and password
you chose for SudokuXP (don't worry if you've forgotten them - they'll have been
emailed to you).
Clicking 'Return to merchant' in the final PayPal screen takes you back to
SudokuXP, and this welcome screen. You can now go straight into SudokuXP and
start solving puzzles.
Occasionally there is a delay in PayPal's processing of payment details and
informing us that the payment has cleared. This is always the case if you pay by
eCheque, where the processing time is 7 - 10 working days, but it's very rare
with credit or debit (bank) cards.
If your payment has been delayed, you'll see a screen here telling you so, and
unfortunately you won't be able to log into SuddokuXP until the payment has
cleared. Please don't worry - as soon as your payment has cleared,
we'll email you to let you know that your membership is ready. If you think it's
taking too long, then please
contact me, and I will personally sort it out. No-one has ever lost their
money or failed to get access to SudokuXP.
I hope you enjoy SudokuXP!
